Keeping up with the Joneses…

For the first time in months, we’ve heard from Shohei Ohtani’s former interpreter, turned thief/emblezer. Rather than expressing remorse, he said that his criminal behavior stemmed from his inability to keep up with the Ohtani’s and it got me to thinking.

In my most convincing Andy Rooney or Frank Caliendo doing Andy, I wondered, “Do you think Shohei wishes he signed up for Lifelock (the identity softward), or would he make a good spokesperson”? Andy might also throw out this gem, “Did anybody really expect Tarik Skubal would say something bad about the Dodgers?”

Anyone who believes what every baseball person is saying about the Dodgers, probably believes everything campaining politicians say. Yeah, sure what the Dodgers did is great for the game, if you are hoping for a months’ long lockout.

As I posited yesterday, honest emotion will only come from local writers, beat reporters and columnists. They’re saying what fans everywhere outside of LaLa land are saying and thinking.

I’m not suggesting that general managers across the league should drop all their doing and have a group hug, but I don’t believe they’re celebrating this turn of events especially considering the meager haul the Tigers got in return for Skubal.

Baseball will continue and I’ll assume that the Dodgers can handle all of the hate. I wouldn’t be surprised if a few individuals withered a bit. We’ll find out who is made of tougher stuff.
