While the Bears were beating the Packers last night, I read that the Cubs signed Alex Bregman to a five-year $175 million contract and because I’m a baseball fan that news was more important than the Bears victory. As I type this, it’s still according to a source.
As recently as this morning, the experts had the Red Sox as the frontrunner in the Bregman fest although the Cubs were supposedly in the running, However, Gabe Lacques of USA Today called it correctly. Which all goes to show, the connected reporters and writers aren’t always the ones with the scoop. At first blush, it would appear that the Cubs are now the favorite to win the NL Central. At the very least, it will put pressure on the other teams to respond.

I’m glad he’s out of the AL East. Whenever one of the twin Empires of Evil loses a player, I celebrate just a little.

I thought you were going to say that whenever someone leaves either of those teams and angel gets his wings
