In less than 24 hours the UConn women will battle South Carolina for the NCAA women’s title, and unknown to 130% of knowledgeable sports fans, the Nebraska and Central Florida men will be competing for $300K and the College Basketball Crown.
Here I thought today was all about the men’s Final Four (Florida v. Auburn and Duke v. Houston) and National Deep-Dish Pizza Day. Outside of Chicago, I’m not sure if anyone is celebrating the latter.
I’m also not sure how much you have to pay for national honors, but I know two local chains that are taking advantage of the publicity. One operation has roots in deep-dish pizza while the other is a long time, thin-only operation.
Credit to the folks behind the CBC, the finals are being held in Vegas and the 300/100 pot split isn’t exactly a secret. It still sounds odd to me, and nobody appears to be paying attention as there are far more important games this weekend.
Good luck to everyone that went with the chalk in their brackets. Personally, I miss Cinderella.
