If you think 13 ML games are a small sample size, consider that a couple Midwest League (MWL) teams have only played three games to date and the rest have only played five or six. As I’m not a pro scout, I’m not worried about the lack of a Single A resume right now. I just want to get to a professional game. I’ll figure out the prospect stuff sometime tomorrow.
Because I no longer love driving 150 miles one way to see a quicker game, I have to consider a few items before deciding where to spend a couple of hours on a Saturday or Sunday.
Despite a promising forecast for parts of the Midwest for Sunday, I’m not stupid enough to go headfirst into a storm. I’m also not going to be chasing any cool promotions or freebies. I consider those an odd bonus, more an amusing extra rather than a cherished piece of memorabilia for my personal collection. This time tomorrow I will have scouted out the various rosters of the four potential teams.
I’m even willing to concede that the game will be a dud and also looking forward to the potential of something odd happening. When all is said and done, I’d rather be sitting in a ballpark.
