I only just learned that today is National Hashbrowns Day, and while there are some nice local options, I think I’m supposed to enjoy them smothered and scattered (in a different area code). Last week I heard that tomorrow, the 9th is National Meatball Day. Fortunately, there are a number of local options celebrating the meatball. While I don’t have to work until tomorrow afternoon, I’m not sure I can work this twofer into my schedule. In Chicago, meatball is often used to describe fans that are blindly loyal to the home team(s), at all costs. So, meatball day has a little more gravitas in the Second City. Meatheads and meatball fans are second cousins.
