As a concierge it’s my job to provide answers-even to unasked questions on a number of subjects. Other writers would say this is spraying to all fields.
Bears center Drew Dalman surprised everyone by retiring after only five NFL seasons and an excellent first season of a three-year contract with the team. He’s only 27-years old and appears to be in good health. One local sportswriter wrote a nice piece congratulated him for retiring ahead of the game. It was genuine respect for a guy that brought respectability to their offensive line-as he played every single offensive snap last season.
Even geniuses make mistakes. If one were to believe everything you read about certain front offices, you’d overlook some of their lapses in judgement. That’s a really charitable way of describing boneheads. Jerkson Profar got busted a second time for violating PED rules and is poised to miss the entire 2026 season. He screwed up last year, his first in Atlanta. At this point anyone, yes including the “face of the game,” Fernando Tatis Jr, uses PED’s they should be forced to spend eternity playing for Vern Rapp.
Not that anyone’s asking but I solved the Nancy Guthrie mystery. She was either taken against her will or she secretly is a non-roster-invitee at Salt River Fields with the Colorado Rockies. Nobody’s going to ever see her again. Does anyone remember what happened to David Nied when he went to Colorado? Incidentally, I had never heard of Savannah Guthrie until her mom disappeared.
Is a professional team’s image enhanced when one of their broadcasters is the lead guy on national broadcasts? I ask because Jason Benetti was named the #1 guy for NBC’s baseball coverage. He’s an excellent all-around ambassador for multiple sports on multiple platforms and currently works for the Tigers after a decent run with the White Sox. Congrats to Jason and good luck to the Sox who are currently suffering through his replacement.
In the I don’t get the hatred department, why are there so many supposed experts irked that the 29-0, Miami of Ohio Red Hawks irked that they could make the Big Dance? I’m no apologist for mid-majors or the MAC, and even if they get erased in the first round, they deserve the right to get whacked. I don’t consider this a cute story because I know their competition is mediocre at best, but they are undefeated through 29 games. There are far better teams that have lost games to crappier teams than Miami so let’s just let the tournament even the score. I’ve got bigger worries with my team.
