After a couple warm days, we’ve eased back into Winter here in Chicago. Regardless of the temperature in the Midwest, the Cubs and Sox are facing off this afternoon in Mesa. While the game won’t matter in the regular season standings, anyone outside of the region won’t understand this game matters for a number of reasons. Jonathan Cannon v. Jameson Taillon might not evoke CY Young battles, but each fanbase will savor a win over the hated rival almost as much as an Italian beef.

Unfortunately, I’ll miss the game because I have to work, but I will be there in spirit even if neither broadcast crew accurately describes the setting. So long as they are keeping score, some guys will be battling as if it’s late July.
