I have no idea what the preseason odds were for the Dodgers-Jays WS battle, but I’m ready to sit back and enjoy. A few different friends have asked me if Toronto has a chance at slowing down the Dodger locomotive. I think what they really wondered was if there is a solution for Shohei Ohtani. I’ve no idea but I wouldn’t rule anything out.
As one friend said, I hope for good games and that nobody gets injured-although I don’t expect anyone’s arm will fall off from overuse. It never happened to anyone before. The Mariners and Jays proved that players, especially pitchers will go above and beyond in order to make it happen-even if it didn’t work out for the Mariners. Nobody dreams of going 1-6 in the 7th game of a series. They all believe they can succeed in the biggest moment, even the 14th guy and 12th pitcher.
While I don’t expect the broadcast crew to make mention of it, I am curious to see if the crowd in Los Angeles will reach the same fever pitch as those crazy Canadians in Toronto. Merely dying your hair blue doesn’t equate with hockey crazy. Heading into this postseason I had hoped to catch a game at my 9th different postseason ballpark. Oh well, maybe next year I’ll have a work schedule that allows me to travel.
Hopefully both teams will be at full strength on Friday night, and we’ll see them at their best.
