A friend hoped that the trade of Josh Naylor to Seattle would sate my desire for the trading to begin. It’s more that I’m tired of all the artless chatter about who is going where and for whom. Until teams pull the trigger, it’s all just blather.
I’m not surprised that there’s only been one other major trade since the Naylor deal because several front office types said that the dealing would be more aggressive as the actual July 31 deadline approached.
Even though I don’t believe the buyer (Seattle) will play in the World Series this year, it’s fun to debate who won the trade and if Arizona will benefit in the long run. I happen to enjoy watching, Naylor the eldest, play. He’s an impressive hitter who plays the game the proper way-which might explain why he’s been traded for so many times early in his ML career. Each team that acquired him, improved and here is the list of players that have been traded for him. Note: He wasn’t the only player acquired in each of the trades.
Andrew Cashner, Colin Rea, Tayron Guerrero, Mike Clevinger, Greg Allen, Slade Cecconi, Brandyn Garcia, and Ashton Izzi. Not exactly the Billboard Top 100.
