By holding off another week to post about Dave Parker‘s recent passing at 74, I admit I thought I’d find some more relevant stories to share. Maybe because he was elected to the HOF months ago, many fine tributes were published.

His family will hopefully enjoy the fanfare around the HOF ceremonies later this month, but it’s unfortunate that he wasn’t able to bask in the adoration of his many fans. Whether I watch or not, I’m curious to see who introduces him. Personally, I’d love for it to be one of his former Pirate teammates.

While he won a WS title with the A’s and was an All-Star with the Brewers, he’ll always be a National Leaguer in my heart. I never got pictures of him in Pirates yellow and black, rather I have some nice shots from his time in Cincinnati.
