Even with a half day of school (work) today, getting to Wrigley for the Cubs-Phillies opener was never an option. The fact that first pitch was two hours after the expected 1:20 start wasn’t enough for me to go.
I’ve enjoyed watching and listening to the game, but do not envy the folks sitting through the 20+ mph winds coming in from left-center field. The game started so late because of a rain delay and there’s nothing to say the game won’t be interrupted again.
Unfortunately, I have to consider and obsess over the weather when I decide whether to attend any game in the Midwest in April and May. And as much as I’d love to watch the Cubs eviscerate Philadelphia, I’m opting for comfort right now. Besides, if I were at the game right now, I’d miss out on the in-game betting tips from the guys on the Marquis Network.
Editor’s note: Never in 876,912 years did I ever expect to watch any of the NFL draft, but because I was out last night with friends at a local bar I “got” to catch a few picks. My friends were unfamiliar with the draft and why everyone from Northern Wisconsin appeared to be in Green Bay.
