It’s not a matter of what happened in Tokyo staying in Tokyo or the specifics of either game played between the Cubs and Dodgers mattering to me. And unless the Cubs lose a key player to a significant injury, I won’t be upset if they lose a second game tomorrow.
I’m still bothered that MLB interrupted the natural flow of spring training to hold these games. Whether ST is too long or not, it is all about ramping up and leading to Opening Day. Both teams altered their training etc. and will have played the first two games, but now they play 10 meaningless games in Arizona.
I wonder how easily the two teams will take it the next ten days (leading up to Domestic Opening Day) and use this interruption as an excuse. In some cases, players on the Cubs and Dodgers are still trying to make the 26-man rosters heading north, but I don’t know if this extra time will matter to anyone seriously trying to crack the lineup.
I’m still trying to sort through all of the other teams’ rosters, but now I’m already in season mode. I don’t think the results of the first two games will color my thinking as to standings, but it’s hard to look at this with fresh eyes.
