Based on the Cubs incredible spring training performance, I’ve already predicted they’ll go a record 133-29 and to listen to the local media, I’ve got a lot of support.
While I haven’t taken a break from obsessing over the upcoming season, I’m not buying the need for MLB to begin the season on March 18 in Japan. There’s no benefit to playing two regular season games and a few exhibitions and then restarting nine days later in the U.S and Canada.
Does the game need growing in Japan? How is this going to benefit the Cubs? The only result in Japan that will satisfy me is if the Cubs outscore the Dodgers 23-4. Splitting or losing both games isn’t acceptable while it won’t end the Cubs hopes.
The exhibition games make even less sense to me. Both teams are going to have to bring more players including several minor league players. After hearing complaints about the risk of injuries to the players that participated in the Four Nations-NHL ASG, I can’t figure why the players agreed to this?
Not to worry, I don’t really believe the 2025 Cubs are going to win 133 games. A recent fortune cookie predicted something closer to 127.
