On January 26, 1986, the Chicago Bears defeated the Patriots 46-10 in New Orleans and later this year, all of Chicago will begin celebrating the 40th anniversary of the 1985 Bears. I still have and occasionally wear the stocking hat my Aunt Pat and Uncle Jerry mailed to me in London.
I proudly wore that hat for the rest of the semester and not because the weather was especially foul, but rather because of the preponderance of students from the Boston area. Thankfully, I haven’t seen any of them since the Patriots reeled off 6 Super Bowl wins.
Equally unforgettable and far more importantly, two days later, the space shuttle, Challenger exploded immediately after taking off. I hope that people will take a few minutes to remember the crew on the 28th.
