As much as I love going to baseball games, I might enjoy chaotic off-season’s more than seeing my teams fall short. Even when my teams are inactive, I still enjoy deciphering what other teams do because it impacts my teams.
Aside from a few starting pitchers and Japanese stud, Roki Sasaki, the focus this winter was Juan Soto and how much money he would get. Pete Alonso figured to be the biggest attraction among free agent first basemen. If you have followed the news lately, Alonso appears to be the last one standing in the game of musical chairs.

In the past month, Nathaniel Lowe landed in D.C, Carlos Santana returned to Cleveland, and sorta first baseman, Cody Bellinger joined Paul Goldschmidt in the Bronx.
Christian Walker left Arizona for Houston via free agency and was replaced by Josh Naylor via trade so it’s hard to figure where Alonso will land. Many of the experts had him leaving the Mets for many of the above cited teams. During last season, the Chicago media and some fans speculated that the Cubs were interested. Will he come more cheaply now that fewer teams appear to be in the market for a right-handed bat.
