Is AI any good? I’ve been told by people that have never written an original story that it will solve all of our problems. But as I said, they’ve never written an original story of their own. As I type this something is trying to take over what I write and I’m not happy with the end result or being stripped of my original produce.
I bring this up because I had wanted to post about the college basketball game I attended this afternoon. 20 years ago, I would have approached someone with Loyola what exactly happened to leading scorer Jayden Dawson. While I hadn’t intended on posting a blow by blow account of the game, his injury is a major aspect of the win.
Unfortunately, when I went to the Chicago Tribune website, the game account was AP generated, or rather The Associated Press created this story using technology provided by Data Skrive and data from Sportradar.
In a past life an AP writer would have written the story from somewhere at the Gentile Center. It appears that this entire “story” was void of personality and explains why there was nothing more that stats. The biggest story of the game was how Loyola won the game despite losing Dawson in the first minute of the game.
Sportsradar and Data Skrive have effectively sucked the life out of this story.
