I don’t expect any starting pitcher to pull a Fernando circ 1981 and throw 100+ pitches in a game, but I’d love it if both managers only started traditional, legit starters. I’m done with the opener and bullpen games. In the very short term, they might be sorta effective but are painful to watch. If they get shellacked and can’t make it out of the second inning, that’s okay and part of the long history of WS failures.
I fully expect one or two of the higher profile stars to have a big series and I know that’s what will move the media for the national audience, but I won’t be surprised if Teoscar Hernandez and someone like Gleyber Torres come up big in big moments.
Im predicting big things for the Austins, Wells (Yankees) and Barnes (Dodgers). They might not put up historic numbers, but don’t be surprised if they have a Gene Tenace or Darrell Porter moment.
I don’t care a lick about ratings or if MLB cashes in,, but I’m hoping for a long series of at least six games and not because one of my students said his family would attend a game seven in LA.
