Great Expectations could easily have been about Chicago’s baseball fans. I remember the excitement for the 2006 Sox season and the 2017 Cubs season. Boy was that wasted energy on both sides of town. Forget how we felt after the Bears won it all in 1985/86.
The hype surrounding the Bears and Caleb Williams is ridiculous. 87.3% of Bears fans expects Williams will live up to the hype and earn a yellow jacket from Canton. The other 24.2% are hoping the Bears and Williams flop and Justin Fields rides in on his white horse. As luck has it, everyone’s going to have to wait until exhibition #2 for Williams to make his debut. Dang, for the rest of us, this is going to be brutal.
Congrats to the Pro Football Hall of Fame for doing the classy thing. On Saturday, the HOF is coming to Homer Glen Illinois to present Steve McMichael with his jacket and HOF bust because he’s unable to make the trip to Canton. While his story and battle with ALS has gone national, the locals appreciate how important this gesture is to him, his family, teammates, and fans.
I know this is heresy, but who cares about tonight’s game between the Bears and Texans?
