One of the reasons I love shooting at baseball games is not knowing if I’ll get some good pictures. I take far too many pictures (which I instantly discard for one reason or another) in the hopes of getting a few that capture moments. Standing in a camera well offers one a better perspective-one that is usually unobstructed although umpires and base coaches don’t seem to care who they are blocking.
Initially the point of this blog was that I primarily view games from the seats, rarely the press box. I’m able to keep score while I’m anticipating what’s coming next and where to focus my lens. If I miss a great catch in the outfield or a reflexive Brooks Robinsonesque player at third, it’s no big deal because the guys and gals shooting the game will have the shot in one of the local papers.
I often find myself sitting down the third base line as I love getting attempted steals and plays at the plate. Unfortunately, I’ll miss out on great outfield catches, but I prefer the great misses and attempts.

It’s shots like this “Where’s the ball” that I find to be the most amusing. It’s also about how tough this game is.
