I hate to follow up a positive post with one that leans critical. One of the things about a nice scoreboard page of a local sports section is the ability to see every box score from a given day on the same page.
Some would argue that the digital scoreboard serves the same purpose, but in the end you have to click on a particular game to check out the results/numbers. Looking at the entire day at once, you can spot trends-both good and bad.
While checking out yesterday’s games (Sunday June 2nd) I noted the proliferation of crappy hitters-many stealing money from their respective teams. I’m sorry to say that several of the guilty parties are guys that I like. And yesterday wasn’t a one-off either.
Sit down for a minute. There were 33 players with sub-.200 batting averages. No matter how one spins it, that’s unacceptable regardless of how much they are getting paid. Hitting a baseball is extremely difficult, but success in less than 1/5 is horrible. Even weather forecasters aren’t that bad. With apologies to the aforementioned western stars, I’m not sure if this is bad or ugly.
One response to “Eli Wallach and Lee Van Cleef are making money off this post..”
I would call it ugly. Mario Mendoza shoukd sue to get his good name back.
