I admit to not paying close attention to what “national” day it is. I usually find out from a co-worker or an email from some related organization. That’s how I find out about national cheeseburger days and the like.
Had I not received an email from the Wisconsin Timber Rattlers, I wouldn’t have known that today was National Hat Day. Of course, it’s no more than a marketing ploy by minor league baseball, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t fun (not worth celebrating though). With most of the sports world focusing on the NFL right now, it’s not a bad idea or timing to bring up baseball.
MILB does an exceptional job promoting itself and individual teams. For those of us dealing with subzero temperatures and piles of snow, the thought of baseball and warmer weather, this is a welcome national day-no matter how contrived.
Not everyone can get to spring training, and not everyone is rushing to buy season tickets. Thus, looking at some cool caps is an inexpensive diversion.

Have a wonderful day!
