Everyone is sharing their list of what they are grateful for today, so I thought I’d share some sports related items.
First and foremost, I’d like to thank the folks at ESPN (and 2) for airing the Battle 4 Atlantis. Over the holiday it’s nice to find some sporting event that I actually care about and can root for-even if it’s pretty stressful. Unfortunately, Boog Sciambi is on the call.
Of course, I’m happy and thankful that the Cubs improved their managerial position by hiring Craig Counsell in favor of David Ross. Likewise, I’m grateful the Cubs have the best defensive centerfielder in the past 23 years in Pete Crow-Armstrong. Don’t ask how I came up with 23 years. People take you more seriously if you throw out a precise number.
I’m grateful for all of the creative and aggressive ML general managers who are throwing caution to the wind and make trades already. I love a busy offseason, even if my teams aren’t directly involved. Less thankful, for the writers that are throwing around rumors just because.
I’m thankful that the Bears aren’t playing until Monday. It means everyone can take a break during this 3-8 season. It’s kind of nice to hear people talk about other things.
I also happen to be grateful that the Cardinals resigned bloated starting pitcher and batting practice pitcher, Lance Lynn. I feel confident in taking the over in the homers allowed category. I figure the rest of the NL Central will benefit from his return.
Thanks to everyone for following. Wishing you and your families a Happy Thanksgiving and unless you are rooting for the Tar Heels, I hope your team wins today.
