Wherever you settle in on the reasonably new postseason format and how teams sort themselves out when they get there, one thing should be certain. Nobody has any idea who will step up and perform and who will flounder on the bigger stages.
It’s really entertaining to watch relative nobodies record key outs in the middle innings of a game, or some bit position players come up with a key hit. It really doesn’t matter that the postseason is their biggest career moment.
Teams losing the first two games at home in these best of five sets really face an uphill battle even if they pocket game 3. That game 4 on the road is a bear. We’ll see if the Dodgers or Braves fare any better in game 2 than the Orioles have.
