Aside from massive underperformance in recent years, the biggest thorn in the Yankees’ side has been the Houston Astros (much in the same way that the Yankees thwarted the Twins and A’s for a couple decades).
From afar, it was fun seeing the Yanks get swept at ho me by the Red Sox, losing 2/3 to the Nationals and then seeing the Red Sox completely throttle the Astros. But what makes it all the more enjoyable was how the Tigers beat the Astros last night 4-1.
The Astros Framber Valdez exited the game in the 7th inning with a 1-0 lead and a no-hitter. The Tigers tied the game in the bottom of the 9th and pushed another three runs across on a three-run homer from rookie Parker Meadows.
To add further insult to injury, the Tigers staff only allowed one base hit in the win. Houston’s recent offensive struggles continue! This one-hit performance came a day after that 17-1 blowout at the hands of the BoSox.
Go ahead and predict what happens today for the Astros, Red Sox, Yankees, Tigers and Rangers. I dare ya!
