If the Atlanta Braves don’t represent the NL in the World Series, all of their individual stats won’t mean much in the grand scheme of things. However, the Braves offense has been might impressive.
Only a handful of teams has ever produced 4 teammates with 30+ homers each. At the time, nobody seemed to mind that the accomplishment didn’t result in a title. The Braves could post 5 players with 30+ homers this year though.
With half of August and all of September remaining, the feat is within reach. Matt Olson 43, Austin Riley 29, Ozzie Albies 28. Ronald Acuna Jr. 27, and Marcel Ozuna 24 are the most impressive offensive force in the game right now. They also have the uncanny knack for scoring in the first inning.
I’ll also be watching to see what Acuna Jr’s final numbers are. I’m sure he’ll be the first in a speed-power category all of his own. His current numbers: 27HR. 73 RBI, 161 hits, 109 runs, 29 2bs, 55sb and a .338/.423/.577 split and unlike all of he bigger names he’s only struck out 67 times in 377 at-bats.
