With the extended four day AS break, fans of traditional baseball get an added bonus. Starting pitchers that start that final Sunday game before the break are precluded from pitching in the big game on Tuesday and I guess that’s a good thing.
But with that four day break the starters making their final start heading into the break have the opportunity to empty the tank in the last start. Unfortunately for some that means throwing as hard as possible, The savvier managers use this opportunity to let the guys pitch a little later into the game. Sometimes it’s habit forming and they try and go 7+ when they come back.
I’m hoping Jameson Taillon benefits from this and uses his 8-shutout innings of one-hit ball against the Yankees as a springboard for future success. Anyhow, I’m a sucker for watching starting pitchers attempt to pitch complete games.
