Flipping a coin

Real gamblers know that no matter how many times in a row head comes up, there’s still only a 50% chance that it will come up on the next flip. Sports fans often confuse the concept when betting on other things like who will win a particular game.

So when Hunter Greene finally won for the first time this season today, it shouldn’t have any impact on Jameson Taillon’s start tomorrow. That one guy finally snapped a personal losing streak has no effect on another pitcher getting on the right side of the ledger. Greene’s success does offer proof that it can happen for anyone.

Coincidentally, both pitchers signed multi-year contracts recently and are under pressure to win now (and forever).

Does anyone remember Anthony Young?
