More is less, and less is more

Several people have asked me for my opinions on the various rule changes in MLB. I’ve already explained their reasoning for the larger bases isn’t sound, but that doesn’t mean it won’t benefit the game. Ghost runners are an abomination and until they go to pitcher’s hand out, I won’t be happy with the tinkering.

Teams have already circumvented the no-shift rule and Corey Seager still can’t go the other way. I’m not sure pitchers should be the ones punished by the new rules re: pickoffs. As far as the pitch clock goes, it appears to be working swimmingly-at least as far as watching the game on TV goes. I’m not sure how it plays out when one is at the game. I do love the idea of getting out of the ballpark before 4p.m. I’m thinking some of my road trips will be more pleasant.

Two of the major broadcasts that I watched yesterday haven’t figured how to work 3-people in the booth at once. Three-man booths were painful to listen to when there were 4 hours to kill. Now there isn’t enough time for 3 blabbermouths let alone a fourth “visitor” to the booth. I hate the mic’ed up players even more now than before.

Guys don’t need to have three knuckleheads in their earpieces while they are trying to play the game. You can also do away with the celebrity “play ball” nonsense. The games were entertaining for the most part and far more interesting than Bears draft news.
