Can a meal or drink transport you?

Since Trader Vic’s closed its latest version 6 or 7 years ago, I wondered how many establishments can transport one to another locale. Usually, it’s the decor or ambiance of a restaurant or bar, or maybe the menu.

For the better part of the last 21 hours, it’s been raining Katz and Doggs here in Winnetka. Don’t give the old, “it could have been snow” line. Energetic kindergarten students can not burn off energy outside in torrential downpours (coupled with 35- degree weather). Yet, yesterday, February 22nd was National Margarita Day.

Did anyone have a margarita or three and feel like they were someplace warm and exotic? I’d like to think some friends took advantage of the day to escape the lovely February flooding.

  1. I had a margarita a week ago tonight and my sister had a frozen margarita, which for sone reason cost a dollar more at the Mexican restaurant across from Lincoln Center where we dined. You might have thought by the party in the upstairs level that it WAS National Margarita Day. And for those of us who don’t teach and have to shepherd little ones at school: Yesterday could have been snow and for that we are thankful.

  2. Despite having no power and not even fathoming it would be off for next 36 hours; myself and Joy did have a margarita near the fireplace and with the few candles lit that we had. New favorite margarita Bob, is the reposado marg with fresh lime juice. I have mastered the recipe.
