Kudos to the White Sox

Scott Merkin, the White Sox correspondent for mlb.com, covered the Clevinger piece later in the day. As of 5:20 am CST, there is nothing on the mlb.com homepage.

I’m not suggesting they try the case in the media or that either side needs to share the sordid details in public. However, the situation warrants discussion-when all the facts are in.

What’s also at issue here is the fact that the White Sox did not know about Clevinger’s issues and legal situation before signing him and that MLB has been investigating this for 7 months.

In the case of Trevor Bauer, MLB appeared to be clearer in the status of the case. Again, the details of that case were pretty sordid and none of the public’s business.

Regardless, the White Sox are going to have to deal with this instead of Eloy Jimenez wanting to play right field and how to talk their fans off the ledge.
