Caution and the WBC

I just caught the tail end of Nestor Cortes explaining how he’s going to miss the WBC but hopes to be ready to start the season with the Yankees. I feel badly for him and thought he was a good addition to the US team.

We can’t blame the WBC for his Grade 2 strain of his right hamstring because he injured it running sprints near his home in Miami, Florida. Zoiks Scoob! Is this cat a professional athlete or a 50-something substitute teacher in suburban Chicago?

I guess what’s plagued the White Sox for the past four seasons isn’t unique. How did professional athletes ever endure 156-game schedules without the aid of 10-person training/conditioning staffs?
